2-Day Mokuhanga – Japanese Woodblock 10-4 each day, January 10-11 Day 1 — Carving: Transferring Image & Carving Woodblocks • Transferring image onto woodblock • Carving techniques for multi-colour registration • Understanding key-block and colour-block relationships • Tool handling and maintenance Day 2 — Printing: Contemporary Mokuhanga Methods • Preparing pigments (water-soluble pigments and nori) • Printing with brushes and baren on Japanese paper • Layering transparent colours for depth and tone • Accurate registration for multi-block alignment Suitable for beginners or returning students.
